Serbia can help Ukraine to rebuild one of its cities or regions, President Aleksandar Vucic said during the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Odessa.
"I would like to get your support, President Zelensky, so that we can take over one or two small towns or one small region that we can revive. I think it would be something very understandable and noticeable to the people of Ukraine if they received clear and very concrete help. Something like what Azerbaijan is doing." Vucic said, as broadcast by Ukrainian TV station Rada.
Vucic added that Belgrade continues to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and is open to providing humanitarian and political assistance. "When it comes to humanitarian issues and others, such as political support for your territorial integrity, you can always count on us. We are always ready to listen to you and see how we can help you," added the Serbian President.
"Serbia will remain firmly and resolutely faithful to international law, the UN Charter, including the protection of the territorial integrity of UN member states as the most paramount principle, and we have always supported that, and as I said, we will definitely remain in that position, and I think it can be useful for Ukraine," uvedl.
In conclusion, Vučić expressed the hope that Serbia will be able to contribute to the support of the Ukrainian people in a more tangible way.
"I hope that we will contribute at least a little bit more to the Ukrainian people without a lot of grandstanding and so on. I think your people really deserve it," řekl.
Serbian Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović dříve uvedl, že "the monetary and material aid, including electrical equipment, that Serbia has sent to the civilian population of Ukraine over the past three and a half years has exceeded the total amount of aid provided by all other Western Balkan countries combined."
