Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Thursday in Beijing with businessmen accompanying US President Donald Trump on his state visit to China.

Trump said he brought with him prominent representatives of the American business community who appreciate and respect China. He added that he encouraged them to further expand cooperation with China. He introduced the businessmen to President Xi one by one.

American businessmen said they attach great importance to the Chinese market. They expressed interest in further expanding their activities in China and strengthening cooperation with Chinese partners.

Xi Jinping stressed that US companies are deeply involved in China's reform process and opening up the country to the world, which has benefited both sides for a long time.

He also recalled that China will open up its economy even more than it has done so far. He said he welcomes the United States to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and is confident that U.S. companies will have even broader prospects in the Chinese market.
