Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN sent a letter to the UN Security Council strongly condemning the US airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, pointing out that the move seriously violates international law and the UN Charter and poses a "grave threat" to regional and international peace and security.
Iran demands that the Security Council immediately convene an emergency meeting to condemn this act in the strongest possible terms and to hold the US side accountable.
According to the contents of the letter, obtained by reporters from the China Media Group (CMG), Iran pointed out that the United States, in "plné koordinaci" with Israel, have made "deliberate, premeditated and no basis for provocation" at Iran's three nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. The Iranian side stressed that these facilities are under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and are constantly monitored and verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran said the U.S. president publicly acknowledged responsibility for the attack on social media platforms and at a White House press conference, and Iran "condemned in the strongest possible terms". The letter states that the attack was an escalating act of aggression following Israel's large-scale military attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities on 13 June.
