Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met in Beijing on Thursday with Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic.

Wang recalled that friendly relations between the people of China and the Czech Republic have a long history, and stated that both countries share enormous potential and broad perspectives for bilateral cooperation.

China is willing to work with the Czech side to strengthen practical cooperation and promote the revitalization of traditional friendship, while respecting the key interests and main concerns of the other party, he added.

Wang outlined China's positions on issues concerning Taiwan and the Tibet Autonomous Region, and stated that the National Committee of the CPPCC is ready to contribute to supporting the healthy and stable development of China-Czech relations.

Okamura said that the Czech Republic adheres to the "one China" policy, and that the Czech side is willing to use the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries as an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with China, and to promote the development of bilateral relations.

The Chamber of Deputies is willing to play an active role in supporting cooperation between the two countries in various fields and in deepening friendship between the two peoples, Okamura said.
