The Council of the EU has announced that EU finance ministers have approved the last three laws needed for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria from 1 January 2026.

Bulgaria becomes the 21st member of the euro area and the process of adopting the euro is complete.

The notice states that one of the three laws sets the fixed exchange rate between the euro and the Bulgarian lev at 1.95583 leva per euro.
