NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that regardless of the outcome of the meeting between Russian and US officials, NATO will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine.

Rutte said NATO is committed to ensuring Ukraine has the weapons it needs to continue fighting and is in a good position for a ceasefire or peace talks. He added that the meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States would not produce a "final agreement" on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, and that both Europe and Ukraine must participate in the Russian-Ukrainian peace process.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has previously said that NATO countries are "playing with fire" by supplying weapons to Ukraine, and any material containing Ukrainian weapons will become a legitimate target for Russia. The press secretary of the Russian president also said that the supply of weapons by the West to Ukraine will not help the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will only have negative consequences.
