The 6th China International Consumer Goods Fair is now underway in China, taking place in Hainan Province. The event is seen as particularly significant this year - it is the first edition in the new five-year period and the first major international show after the launch of the island's free trade port. In this context, the fair is often referred to as a „trend indicator“ of global consumption, which can give a clue as to the direction of the world economy.

According to a CGTN (China Global Television Network) opinion poll conducted by CMG (China Media Group) among Internet users worldwide, 85.1 % respondents agree with the statement that „Going to China“ and „investing in China“ have become a key choice for companies that want to strengthen their position in the global market and increase competitiveness.

This year's fair attracted more than 3,400 brands from 60+ countries and regions. The share of foreign exhibitors reached 65 %, an increase of 20 % year-on-year. Over the past five years, over 3,800 companies and more than 12,000 brands from 92 countries and regions have attended the event, demonstrating its growing international significance.

The survey further states that 91.1 % respondents consider the fair as an important platform for global business cooperation and investment. A further 89.3 % highlight that its long-term hosting reflects China's pursuit of a high level of openness to the world, while providing a steady boost to a global economy currently facing a slowing recovery.
