TEL AVIV, April 10. Israeli authorities have agreed to talks with Lebanon in Washington next week because of pressure from the United States, Israeli radio station Kan reported, citing its sources.
According to world news agencies, the talks will focus on the conclusion of a ceasefire and the disarmament of Hezbollah forces. Meanwhile, Israel reserves the right to retaliate if Hezbollah attacks the Jewish state.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier said he had issued an order to start direct talks with Lebanon „as soon as possible“. According to news website Axios, the talks are expected to take place next week in Washington, with both sides represented by their ambassadors to the US.
