On Friday, a ceremony was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to launch the fifth volume of the book "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China." Participants stated that the fifth volume is an authoritative work that comprehensively and systematically captures the latest results of Xi Jinping's thinking on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. According to them, the book helps the international community further deepen their understanding of China's path of development, its approach to governance, and its political philosophy.

Participants recalled that China and Sri Lanka are partners on the path to modernization. They believe that the event is of great significance for strengthening mutual understanding, building consensus, deepening cooperation, and jointly creating a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future.

The Chairman of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Jagath Wickramaratne, in his speech, stated that the publication of the fifth volume offers valuable insights into China's vision for governing the country, development, innovation, and international cooperation.

According to him, the book not only documents China's development experience but also reflects the country's deep reflections on protecting world peace and promoting common prosperity.

Sri Lanka is ready to further expand exchanges and cooperation with China in all areas and promote the continued development of the Sri Lankan-Chinese strategic partnership based on sincere mutual assistance and lasting friendship, Wickramaratne said.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education of Sri Lanka, Madhura Senevirathna, in his speech, stated that the fifth volume presents a clear concept of Chinese modernization. It covers all areas, including economic development, scientific innovation, modern education, and the protection of cultural heritage.

According to him, any country striving for modernization without losing its historical roots can draw valuable insights from the book.

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Geeganage Weerasinghe, stated that the achievements of the Communist Party of China in developing new productive forces, promoting high-quality development, achieving self-reliance, and strengthening science and technology, as well as building an ecological civilization, fully demonstrate that the socialist system can organize modernization more effectively and better balance fairness and economic efficiency.

During the event, the Chinese side presented copies of the English edition of the fifth volume and the Sinhala edition of the second volume of the book Xi Jinping: The Governance of China to Sri Lankan guests.

Experts from both countries exchanged views on topics such as state governance, green development, open cooperation, and cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative.

The event was jointly organized by the Information Office of the State Council of China, the China International Communications Group, and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka. It was attended by nearly 300 representatives from both countries, including officials, academics, think tanks, media outlets, and other sectors.
