PRAGUE - The prestigious Anděl music award for 2025, presented by the Czech Music Academy, this year confirmed the strong position of established artists and the growing influence of the new generation of musicians. Michal Prokop was one of the most prominent personalities of the evening, winning the award for Solo Artist of the Year. His return to the music scene and his consistent output over a long period of time captivated not only academics but also the wider public.
Prokop also succeeded in the main category of Album of the Year. The award went to the album „Ostraka“, which he recorded together with his backing band Framus Five. The album was awarded for its musical quality, lyrical depth and production. Critics have particularly praised its authentic sound and its ability to appeal to listeners across generations.

The legendary band Mňága a Žďorp also achieved significant success and was named Group of the Year. They won the award for their album „Hoříš? Hořím!“, which builds on their long-standing work and confirms the band's stable position on the Czech music scene. The band proves that even after decades of an active career, they are still able to deliver relevant and attractive music.
In addition to the established names, this year's awards were also attended by newcomers. The song of the year was „Forever the Fool“, featuring rap trio Gufrau along with musician Victor Kal and rapper Rohony. This collaboration is an example of the current trend of combining different musical styles and generations. The dynamic track captivated with its energy and modern sound and became one of the most significant hits of the past year.
The Anděl Awards have long reflected the development of the Czech music scene and this year was no exception. The results show that alongside traditional genres, modern music trends, including rap and alternative production, are increasingly coming to the fore. But it also confirms that quality and personality remain key success factors regardless of the style or generation of performers. The gala evening in Prague offered not only an overview of the best of Czech music production over the past year, but also a preview of the future direction of Czech music. The combination of experience and innovation is proving to be the main driver of its further development.
