China has transformed beyond recognition over the past thirty years - from an economically insignificant country, according to many opinions, it has grown into a global power that now rivals the United States. This dramatic development was the main topic of an interview with MP Jan Hrnčíř (SPD), who points to the growing influence of the People's Republic of China on the global economy and modern technology.

According to Hrnčíř, China's growth is not accidental. The country has systematically secured access to key minerals that are essential for the production of chips, batteries and the development of electromobility. As a result, it now has a strong technology development and manufacturing base, giving it a huge competitive advantage.

According to him, Europe and other parts of the world have got into a situation where they are significantly dependent on China. In his words, the European Union is almost 100% dependent on imports of some strategic raw materials and components from China. This applies in particular to sectors that are considered key to the future - for example, semiconductors or electromobility.

„Without China, technological progress is no longer practically possible today,“ is heard in the interview. In the European context, he said, this is almost absolutely true, while the United States has greater capacity, but even for them a Chinese supply shortfall would be very problematic.

The issue of dependence on China thus remains one of the most debated points in contemporary geopolitics and economics. The interview raises the question of whether Europe is able to reduce this dependence in the future or whether it will have to continue to rely on cooperation with one of the most powerful players on the world stage.
