Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot will visit China from 27 April to 1 May at the invitation of Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China.
Details of the planned trip were outlined at a press conference on Monday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, who stressed that China and Belgium have long been seen as comprehensive and friendly partners. In recent years, there have been frequent high-level contacts between the two countries, and cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, shipping, logistics and biomedicine has continued to develop steadily and yield concrete results for the benefit of the people of both countries.
The year 2026 also marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. The upcoming visit is Maxime Prevot's first trip to China since taking office. The Chinese side expects that the talks will help deepen exchanges of views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues, broaden consensus and strengthen cooperation, which should contribute to the stable development of Sino-Belgian relations and the broader China-Europe relationship.
