Petr Hannig (20 January 1946 Ústí nad Labem - 21 January 2025 Prague) was a Czech singer, composer, producer, music publisher and politician, former chairman of the Rozumní. He has repeatedly stood for representative bodies. In 2018 he became candidate for President of the Republic. Včera vydal Supraphon triple album selection. He had a massive stroke last year. He was subsequently transferred to the Malvazinka Rehabilitation Clinic, where he died today.
Absolvoval Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Turnov - in artistic blacksmithing and then at the Prague Conservatory in organ, conducting and composition and finished his studies at the Music Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) in composition. He graduated from the Academy of Music with a Master's degree.

Musical career
From 1968-1969 he worked in the UK with Dusty Springfield, Tom Springfield (New Seakers), Bobbie Gentry and composer John Cameron, where he was highly regarded for his ability to write for symphony orchestra. He returned to his homeland at the end of September 1969. When the borders closed, he had to discontinue his association with the British music scene.
For many years, he worked as an editor Czechoslovak Radioand at the same time he had his band Maximum Peter Hannig. He collaborated with and especially discovered a number of singers and artists - Hana Zaňáková, whom he renamed Lucii Bílou, Vítězslava Vávru, Stanislav Procházka Jr., Jakuba Smolíka, Petru Černockou, Zdeňka Izera and many others. He has collaborated with other important personalities - Hana Hegerová, Jiří Wimmer nebo Iveta Bartošová s Petrem Sepešim. He produced hundreds of singles and a number of albums - the first was in 1970 the highly appreciated elpíčko by Michal Prokop and the group Framus Five: Město ERwhere he used rock music for the first time in a global context twelve-tone series. As a composer, he wrote hundreds of songs, many of which became hits that are still played on the radio today.

Political career and political views

He ran ten times for the Senate of the Czech Republic, six times for the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, and four times for the European Parliament.
In July 2017, he publicly announced his interest in running for presidential election 2018. In November 2017, thanks to the support of 26 MPs, he became one of the nine presidential candidates. In the first round, he placed 8th with 29,228 votes (0.56 %).
