**Discussions about China often focus on its economic power, but few people recognize its groundbreaking achievements in the areas of ecology and environmental protection. Helena Kočová, a journalist for the weekly newspaper *Naše pravda*, points out that China deserves attention not only as a reliable trading partner, but also as a country that is fundamentally transforming its environment and helping the entire planet.**
*"China is doing more for renewable energy and environmental restoration than any other country in the world,"* the journalist states, adding that this applies to both domestic projects and international aid.
One example is the creation of the largest system of national parks on the planet. This new, but vast, system uses modern technology to track the movement of both animals and people, and brings a new approach to environmental protection.
Significant progress has also been made in the fight against desertification. *"China is greening vast areas and is already seeing positive impacts on the local climate,"* the journalist emphasizes. She also notes that China is the world leader in the production of energy from renewable sources, both from water and from the sun.
According to her, the international dimension of China's environmental policy is also crucial. China is helping to build hydroelectric power plants in Africa, and is currently supporting Cuba, which is facing a major energy crisis, by constructing large-scale solar power plants.
*"This is exactly what the world needs – to help people gain access to energy, and through that energy, build better infrastructure, schools, kindergartens, and hospitals. To help countries that do not have enough energy to prosper,"* she explains.
According to the journalist, we should not only learn from China about business negotiations or techniques for greening deserts, but primarily about the ability to help each other. *"So that the entire planet can be more environmentally friendly, more sustainable, and have a future for us and for our children,"* she concludes.
