The fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China will be held in October in Beijing. This was decided on Thursday by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. According to the main agenda, the Political Bureau will present a report on its work to the CPC Central Committee. The plenary session will also address key issues related to further advancing the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party.

Thursday's meeting was presided over by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping. The Political Bureau also analyzed the current economic situation and adopted measures regarding economic work in the second half of this year.

According to the conclusions of the meeting, significant progress has been made since the 18th CPC National Congress, but comprehensive and strict intra-Party governance faces new circumstances and challenges. These are linked to profound changes in both the international and domestic environment, as well as to the transformation of the conditions in which the Party operates.

The Political Bureau called for a full understanding of the importance of unwavering advancement of comprehensive and strict Party governance. It stated that higher standards and more concrete measures should be applied when addressing the most prominent problems in Party building.

At the same time, according to the Political Bureau, it is necessary to consolidate and further develop the favorable political environment that has emerged through the ongoing efforts in intra-Party governance.

The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining and strengthening the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee. Attention should be focused on enhancing the Party's long-term governing capacity, preserving its progressive character and integrity, and maintaining close ties with the population.

According to the conclusions of the meeting, the Party should strictly adhere to rigorous governance principles and continue to improve the system of comprehensive and strict intra-Party governance.

The goal is to ensure that the Communist Party of China remains a viable Marxist ruling party that stands at the forefront of its era, enjoys the full support of the people, is capable of withstanding all tests, and represents the firm leadership core in building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
