Chinese government's special envoy for Middle East affairs Zhai Jun met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on March 15, 2026.
During the meeting, Zhai Jun said that the situation in the region remains very tense and unstable. Countries in the region Perský záliv, including Kuwait, are significantly affected by the current developments, which the Chinese side does not want.
He also strongly criticized the military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, which he said were carried out without a mandate UN Security Council and constitute a violation of international law. China is clearly opposed to such actions.
The Chinese side also condemned attacks on civilians and non-military targets and stressed that the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the states associated in the Gulf Cooperation Council must be fully respected. According to Zhai Jun, energy and economic facilities should not be attacked and the security of sea routes must be maintained.
The most important thing is an immediate ceasefire and an end to the conflict. The international community should, according to Zhai Jun, call on all parties to stop the fighting and prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
At the same time, Zhai Jun praised Kuwait's restrained approach and its efforts to respond to developments in a calm and measured manner. He also expressed China's willingness to work with the Kuwaiti side to ease tensions and seek a constructive solution.
