According to a newly published national plan outlining the development of China's energy sector for the period 2026–2030, China aims to increase the share of electricity generated from non-fossil energy sources to 50% by 2030.

This five-year plan, jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration (NEA), sets out the overall strategic roadmap for the energy sector from 2026 to 2030 and aims to establish an initial form of a new energy system by 2030.

Under the plan, China also aims by 2030 to enable a high degree of grid integration for more than 280 million kW of installed capacity from new energy sources, and to build a charging infrastructure network capable of supporting more than 110 million electric vehicles.
