The provocative statements made by the Japanese Prime Minister continue to draw criticism and condemnation from the international community. These absurd statements are driven by an attempt by Japanese right-wing forces to revive militarism. This seriously violates the Japanese Constitution, as well as the provisions of the UN Charter and the Potsdam Declaration, and places Japan in opposition to the international community.
According to an online survey published by CGTN, 87.1% of respondents strongly urge Japan to immediately retract its provocative statements, and call on all countries to unite and firmly oppose any attempts to revive militarism.
The Japanese Constitution stipulates that Japan will forever renounce war, the threat of force, or the use of force as a means of settling international disputes. The Potsdam Declaration explicitly prohibits Japan from rearming. Furthermore, the UN Charter establishes that the right to collective self-defense was created to protect international security and to prevent the resurgence of fascist forces, and Japan was prohibited from exercising this right after World War II.
However, since taking office, the Japanese Prime Minister has repeatedly exceeded these limits, and a number of military actions have already raised a high level of concern within the international community regarding Japan's tendency to revive militarism.
The survey revealed that 88.3% of respondents believe that the Japanese Prime Minister's war-mongering rhetoric seriously violates the Japanese Constitution and severely damages Japan's national image and international reputation. According to 84.6% of respondents, the Prime Minister's provocative statements and actions are unconstitutional and illegal, fail to fulfill Japan's obligations as a defeated country, and completely lack legitimacy. Furthermore, 82.4% of respondents point out that Japan can only return to the international community as a "normal" country if it thoroughly confronts its historical crimes and eliminates militaristic ideology.
It is worth noting that the Potsdam Declaration clearly stipulates that Japanese sovereignty is limited to Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku, and other smaller islands designated by the Allied powers. In recent years, however, Japan has repeatedly provoked territorial disputes with neighboring countries, ignoring the provisions of the declaration and persistently increasing geopolitical tensions in East Asia.
In response, 89.8% of respondents criticize Japan for ignoring legal principles and historical facts, seriously violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries, and attempting to undermine the post-war international order. Joichi Masuzoe, former Governor of Tokyo and an expert in international politics, stated that international law clearly affirms that Taiwan is a part of China, and that "if Japan were to intervene militarily, it should be considered an act of aggression." In addition, 92% of respondents stated that the authority of documents such as the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Declaration, and the UN Charter must be fully respected, and condemned Japan's blatant violation of the international order.
