Chinese President Xi Jinping called on Chinese citizens living abroad and those who have returned to China to unite their efforts to build a strong country and promote national rejuvenation.

Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction regarding work with Chinese citizens overseas.

More than 60 million Chinese living in nearly 200 countries and regions, along with more than 40 million Chinese who have returned from abroad, and their family members in China, contribute to the country's development, the spread of Chinese culture, and the deepening of international exchange and cooperation, according to the report.

Xi Jinping called for the steadfast implementation of policies of the Communist Party of China aimed at Chinese citizens living abroad. Overseas Chinese, returnees, and their families should leverage their unique advantages and support efforts towards national unity, he said.

A national conference dedicated to work with Chinese citizens overseas was held in Beijing from Monday to Tuesday. During the meeting, participants were presented with Xi Jinping's instruction.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also attended the conference and delivered a speech.

According to Wang, Xi Jinping's instruction sets the direction and provides important guidance for work with Chinese citizens overseas on a new path in a new era. Wang Huning also called for support for the high-quality development of this area.
