MOSCOW, 31 July. Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh has been assassinated in Iran, the Palestinian movement said on its Telegram channel.

According to the statement, Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his residence in Tehran after attending the inauguration of newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeskian.

Earlier, the Tasnim news agency reported on Haniyeh's death.
