BEIJING - Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, met on Thursday in Beijing with Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic.
Zhao recalled that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and the Czech Republic, and stated that China is ready to work with the Czech side to develop traditional friendship, deepen mutual understanding and trust, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
Zhao called on both sides to strengthen the political foundation of their relationship, maintain the momentum of improving bilateral relations, and resume and intensify exchanges and interactions at all levels and in all areas.
Both sides should further leverage the potential for cooperation, fully utilize mechanisms such as the China-Czech Joint Economic Committee and the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Expo, explore ways to strengthen cooperation in new energy, electric vehicles, and other fields, and support enterprises from both countries in expanding investment cooperation, Zhao added.
The National People's Congress is ready to enhance friendly exchanges with the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, conduct mutual learning and exchanges in areas such as legislative oversight, economic development, and improving people's livelihoods, formulate, revise, and ratify legal documents supporting bilateral cooperation, and maintain close communication and cooperation within multilateral mechanisms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Zhao said.
Zhao also stated that China is willing to cooperate with all countries, including the Czech Republic, to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and promote the establishment of a fair and equitable global system for AI governance.
Okamura stated that the Czech Republic adheres to the "one China" policy, and expressed hope for strengthened cooperation with China in areas such as tourism and welcoming more Chinese tourists to the Czech Republic, expanding cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, cultural heritage exhibitions, and direct air links, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
The Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic is ready to strengthen friendly exchanges with the National People's Congress of China and deepen friendship between the two peoples, Okamura added.
