Thousands of years ago, Bianjing was the largest and busiest city in the world during the Northern Song Dynasty. Over a million people lived here and the lights of nightlife shone all night long.

All this was recorded in a curious book called Records of the Dreams of the Eastern Capital. Considered to be a written version of the Qingming Feast Scroll Along the River, it describes in detail the architecture, customs, food and festivals of this international metropolis.

For future generations they have left the most detailed record of the city from the heyday of Chinese civilization. We'll take this guidebook and head to the Kaifeng Museum to see for ourselves what the books say, listen to the stories behind the historical objects, and discover this magical city of dreams together.
