MOSCOW, October 16. Moscow is acting in accordance with statements regarding the purchase of Russian oil, which officially involve New Delhi and Beijing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a comment on remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to the U.S. President, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly assured him that the country would not be buying Russian oil. "We are relying on official statements issued by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi, as well as statements from Beijing. These statements are publicly available, and we are acting in accordance with them," Peskov said.
Earlier, Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Randhir Jaiswal stated that Indian authorities prioritize the interests of their consumers when it comes to energy imports. Meanwhile, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian said that Trump's demands for other countries to stop buying oil from Russia undermine global supply chains.
