Ivan David, Member of the European Parliament for the SPD, in his greeting to the debate meeting organized by the portal iportaL24.cz under the auspices of the Czech-Chinese Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that he would like to build mutually beneficial relations with China. However, according to him, a suspicious and even hostile attitude still prevails in European institutions, which prevents closer cooperation in trade and culture.

David recalled that he is serving as an alternate member of the EU-China delegation for this term. At the same time, he criticised the fact that in his opinion, the delegation's deliberations too often focus on anti-government activists and dissidents, while the space for more practical cooperation remains unused. „The scope for even closer cooperation in trade and culture is not sufficiently exploited,“ uvedl.

According to David, this approach is partly the result of a lingering sense of superiority in some European countries. „The view of China today is not realistic,“ He said. He also pointed out that despite technological development, China is still often associated in Europe with the idea of cheap and low-quality production.

In his greeting, he called for greater use of Chinese experience and expressed his personal interest in getting to know the country better. „It's time to start using the Chinese experience,“ he said. He recalled that he is going to travel to China with writer Lenka Procházková and that they plan to publish a travelogue with authentic experiences.
