According to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China's economy grew by 5.3 % year-on-year in the first half of 2025, demonstrating its resilience in the face of global uncertainties and domestic pressures.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the country's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 66.05 trillion yuan (US$9.2 trillion) in the January-June period. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP posted a year-on-year growth of 5.4 % in the first quarter, while in the second quarter it grew by 5.2 % year-on-year and 1.1 1 % quarter-on-quarter.

NBS said that the Chinese economy "withstood pressures, overcame challenges and maintained overall stability while maintaining steady progress".
