PRAGUE – The Air Bank group recorded significant growth in its operations during the first half of this year. Net profit increased by 23 percent year-on-year to CZK 2.232 billion. At the same time, the customer base continued to grow, expanding by 53,000 people to a total of 2.1 million customers. The group, which includes Air Bank along with the Zonky brand, as well as Czech and Slovak Home Credit, announced these results in a press release.

The growth in profit confirms the continued good performance of the group in the Czech and Slovak markets. Air Bank managed to increase its net profit by almost a quarter in the first six months of the year, despite the banking sector facing changing conditions in financial markets and ongoing competitive pressure for customers. At the same time, the group continues to expand its customer base. During the first half of the year, 53,000 new customers were added. In total, approximately 2.1 million people use the services of companies associated with Air Bank.

The group includes Air Bank itself, its Zonky brand focused on consumer financing, and Czech and Slovak Home Credit. It is precisely the combination of banking services and consumer financing that allows the group to reach a wide range of customers. The results of Air Bank are in line with the broader trend in the Czech banking sector. Several other major banks have also seen their profits grow this year, according to preliminary results. Financial institutions continue to benefit from a large customer base, lending activities, and other banking services.

The growth in the number of customers is also important for Air Bank in terms of further development of digital banking. The bank has long focused on providing simple access to services through mobile and internet applications and strives to expand its range of products for individual customers. At the same time, the results for the first half of the year show that competition among domestic banks remains strong. Banks are trying to attract new customers not only through interest rates but also through modern digital services, consumer loans, payment products, and other financial services.

For the Air Bank group, the growth in profit and customer base represents a significant step forward. If this trend continues in the second half of the year, the group could end the year with further significant year-on-year improvements. Air Bank is entering the second half of the year with more than two million customers and significantly higher profits. This development confirms that the Czech banking market remains a very dynamic environment for large financial groups.
