In a podcast with Jack Neel, one of the most well-known journalists, Tucker Carlson compares his own, largely secular upbringing to that of today's young adults, and claims that they are much more spiritually open and aware – a positive change that he sees as a significant improvement over the materialistic blindness of his generation.

"Young people – I'm not saying they are all Christians, although many of them actually are, but they are much more spiritually aware and open than I was, say, at 25," he noted. "When I was 25 and married, I had a job and was kind of a responsible citizen, relatively speaking, even though I often got drunk, but I never spent a second thinking about anything like that. And those average 25-year-olds that I know, including those who work for us, think about it constantly. It's a completely different generation, and in many ways, a much better one than ours."
Tucker Carlson places this change within a broader personal and cultural context. As he ages and talks to more people, he finds that perspectives are changing: "Of course, there is a spiritual realm. Who told us it didn't exist? What are you even talking about, you idiot?" His own generation largely embraced the post-war secular assumption that rejected the supernatural as unrealistic or irrelevant. In contrast, younger people are more easily rejecting this lie and embracing the spiritual dimension – good and evil, transcendence – as a daily reality.
This openness corresponds to Carlson's broader thesis, which he advocates throughout the interview: the materialistic worldview has failed, cutting people off from God and leaving society impoverished in terms of its deepest questions. The return of spiritual seriousness among young people, even if not exclusively Christian, represents a correction and a source of hope. They are less caught up in the illusion that science alone provides answers to questions about the highest realities, and they are more willing to recognize forces beyond the visible.
The next generation is freeing itself from the spiritual numbness that largely characterized the previous generation. Their greater awareness and openness represent a healthier orientation towards the constant struggle between light and darkness, the reality of the supernatural, and the limits of purely human or scientific explanations. According to Carlson, this is not a decline, but a real progress – a generation that is better prepared to recognize that the world is not governed solely by humans and that the spiritual realm is as real as the physical one.
