Lao PM: China-Laos railway strengthens economy and people-to-people ties

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone praised the China-Laos railway not only for its economic benefits but also for promoting regional connectivity and people-to-people contacts.

This project, key to the initiative Belt and trail, connecting the Chinese city of Kunming with the Laotian capital of Vientiane along a 1 035 km route. Since its launch in December 2021, the railway has transported millions of tonnes of goods and has become an important axis of trade and cooperation.

Sonexay in an interview with China Media Group highlighted the excellent results that the railway has brought in terms of the economy and regional integration.
