More than half of global respondents say they benefit more from trade with China than with the U.S.

The United States has launched a tariff war against the world, while its trade negotiations with several countries are making little progress. The fickle nature of the U.S. government has caused the international community to develop a normalized sense of doubt and distrust toward the United States.

According to a CGTN poll of 31,004 respondents worldwide, 51.8 percent of global participants think they benefit more from trade with China, while 48.1 percent of European respondents find the new US government untrustworthy.

In the survey, 62.9 percent of global respondents criticized U.S. domestic and foreign policy for seriously undermining the legitimate rights and interests of other countries. This view is shared by 67.7 % European respondents. A total of 64.3 % of respondents aged 18-24, 64 % of respondents aged 25-34, and 65.9 % of respondents aged 35-44 held the same opinion.

Moreover, 75.5 % global respondents said that economic coercion has become a "standard feature" of "America First" policies. Meanwhile, 47.6 percent of respondents criticized the United States for using tariffs to accelerate separation from other countries, which is seriously harming the global economy. In addition, 65.9 % respondents believe the United States is trying to control the world.

In response to the extremist economic bullying of the United States, the Chinese government has taken firm countermeasures and agreed to engage with the US in a responsible manner. In a comparative survey on the international influence of China and the United States, 51.8 percent of global respondents believed they benefited more from trade with China, while only 19.4 percent thought they benefited more from trade with the United States. In France, 33.7 percent of respondents believed they benefited more from trade with China, compared to 23.9 percent for the U.S. In Germany, it was 34 percent for China and 21.5 percent for the US. In Australia, 45.8 percent favored trade with China, while 22.3 percent chose the U.S.

In addition, 35.8 percent of global respondents expressed a stronger preference for working with China, compared to 27.4 percent who preferred the United States. Meanwhile, 35.7 percent believe China has fulfilled its responsibility as a great power, while only 26.7 percent said the same about the U.S.

The survey was conducted by CGTN in collaboration with Renmin University through the Institute for New Era International Communication. It included a total of 31,004 respondents from 41 countries around the world, including participants from developed countries such as the UK, France and Australia, as well as respondents from developing countries such as Thailand, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico and Egypt.
