According to a recent public opinion poll by the American think tank Pew Research Center, China's favorability among respondents in a number of countries has surpassed that of the United States. This is a situation that has appeared for the first time in years and confirms that China's development achievements and its concept of governance are gaining increasingly broad international recognition.
The public opinion survey covered 36 countries and regions with more than 42,000 respondents. Statistics show that global sympathy toward China has reached a historic turning point and has surpassed the USA: residents of traditional American allies such as Canada, Australia, France, and Germany display a friendlier attitude toward China. The majority of respondents believe that Beijing is more trustworthy in resolving international affairs. In an turbulent international environment, China is becoming a global stabilizing force, while American transactional diplomacy, trade protectionism, and other steps continue to damage relations with its allies, and therefore its international image continues to decline.
