The return capsule of China's Shenzhou-19 spacecraft with astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoz successfully landed on Wednesday at the Dongfeng landing pad in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The medical team on site confirmed that all are in good health.
The Shenzhou-19 mission was, according to China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) a complete success. The spacecraft launched on October 30 last year and the astronauts spent 183 days. During this time they made three ascents into open space, the first of which on 17 December 2024 set a new world record for the length of a single ascent - nine hours.
Cai became the Chinese astronaut with the most spacewalks (five), Song became the first Chinese astronaut born in the 1990s to ascend into free space, and Wang the first female flight engineer on the Chinese space station.
During the mission, the team also handled technical complications - during the installation of the payload, they fixed a problem with a stuck adapter, ensuring the smooth running of further experiments. The astronauts also conducted a wide range of scientific experiments, including physics in microgravity, materials research, biology, medicine a space technologies.
