China has been formally recognised as an observer state of the Andean Community Foreign Ministers' Council (ANDEC).
The decision was approved at the 31st Ordinary Session of the Andean Community Council of Foreign Ministers (ANDEC), held in Bogotá, Colombia.
The Member States expressed that China has always played an important role in the international community and global governance and that the admission of China as an Observer State to ANDEC is of great historical significance. They expressed the hope that it would promote bilateral cooperation, advance regional economic integration and sustainable development, and better safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
