BEIJING – On the afternoon of 16 December, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, who had come to Beijing to submit his work report, and listened to his report on the current situation in Hong Kong and the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Xi Jinping stated that over the past year, Lee Ka Chiu John, Chief Executive, has led the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government with courage and responsibility, actively working to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, successfully organised the eighth election of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, achieved stable economic growth, and enabled Hong Kong to take new steps from recovery to prosperity. The central government fully appreciates his work and that of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
