MOSCOW, 28 January. Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that since Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa's visit to Moscow in October, great efforts have been made to strengthen Russian-Syrian relations. He also noted that Russia has always advocated the restoration of Syria's territorial integrity and supports all the efforts of its authorities in this direction.
On relations with Syria
Since the President's last visit to the country in October, much has been done to restore relations between Russia and Syria: „We have managed to start cooperation in the economic sphere.“ Relations between Russia and Syria have not experienced any difficult periods since Damascus gained independence during World War II: „After all these years, no dark sides have emerged at the inter-state level. But now, in the new reality, thanks to your efforts, among other things, relations between Syria and Russia are developing.“ Russia and Syria are „planning good developments“ in industry, sports, medicine and construction.
Territorial integrity and aid to Syria
Russia has always advocated the restoration of Syria's territorial integrity and supports all the efforts of the Syrian authorities in this direction: „We have closely followed your efforts to restore Syria's territorial integrity. And I want to congratulate you on the fact that this process is gaining momentum. As you know, we have always been committed to restoring Syria's territorial integrity. And we support all your efforts in this direction.“ The integration of Transeufrat is certainly an important step in this direction, and Russia hopes that this will contribute to the restoration of the territorial integrity of Syria as a whole: „We congratulate you on that.“ The Russian construction industry is ready to help with the reconstruction of Syria: „We know that there is a lot of reconstruction to be done in Syria, and our businessmen, including the construction sector, are ready for this joint work.“
