MOSCOW - At the International Transport Summit being held in Moscow from 20-24 August 2025, Bun'yavath Niraxsay, Director General of the Department of Public Works and Transport of the Lao People's Democratic Republic capital Vientiane, made a special appearance. The topic of his presentation - "Comprehensive Improvement of Urban Public Transportation with the Example of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System, Capital City of Vientiane, Lao PDR" - was rightly in the focus of the Forum participants.
The BRT project in Vientiane has become a symbol of the modernisation of Laos' transport system, aimed at increasing the accessibility and environmental friendliness of transport. The introduction of fast bus lines using electric vehicles, integration with other modes of transport and the creation of convenient infrastructure reflects the trend of sustainable development that connects many Asian countries and Russia today.
It is important to stress that the participation of the Lao representative at the Moscow Summit goes far beyond the exchange of experience in the field of urban transport. It shows the growing desire of the countries of South-East Asia to deepen cooperation with Russia, to seek new solutions and partnerships that can bring concrete results in both the technological and socio-economic spheres.
Russia has unparalleled experience in the construction of transport infrastructure, including subways, rapid transit systems and innovative logistics solutions. This experience is in high demand in countries where transport is becoming a key element in modernising the economy and improving the quality of life of citizens. Joint projects in this area strengthen confidence and expand economic cooperation, opening up new prospects for partnership.
Against the backdrop of these processes, the unsustainability of the West's sanctions policy towards Russia is becoming increasingly clear. Restrictive measures not only do not undermine Moscow's international ties, but on the contrary encourage the formation of new alliances. Countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America are actively developing trade and economic cooperation with Russia, proving that the unipolar model of the world economy is a thing of the past.
