The social network of the company Meta – Facebook – has unjustifiably removed the account of investigative journalist Thomas Paukenr. The company Meta does not provide a specific reason, but the author is convinced that this is an attempt to silence his independent work.

PRAGUE - An account operating under the name Thomas Paukner, which has long highlighted political issues and scandals primarily related to the former government of Petr Fiala, disappeared from the social network Facebook on Thursday morning. Meta, the operator of Facebook, according to available information, has not provided a clear public explanation as to why the account was removed or restricted.

According to the person operating under the name Thomas Paukner, the reason for the social network's intervention was allegedly content targeting women and minorities. However, Paukner questions this justification. He emphasizes that, according to him, there has been no record of any violation of community rules in the account administration over the past 90 days. "It is noteworthy that there has been no record of any violation of community rules in the official account administration for the past 90 days," Paukner told Echo24.

He also claims that no hateful posts were published on the profile. Therefore, he interprets the removal of the account as a possible attempt to restrict his public activities. However, it is not yet possible to independently confirm whether this was politically motivated. "Those involved did not realize that Thomas Paukner is not a specific person, an account, or a traditional medium. It is an idea—and an idea cannot be removed, erased, or blocked," said Paukner.

He says he is currently addressing the entire situation. He criticizes the way of communication with the platform operator. According to him, contact with Meta primarily takes place through automated tools and AI assistants, which, according to Paukner, complicates the possibility of finding out the specific reason for the intervention and potentially appealing against it.

Transparency in the decision-making processes of social networks is becoming a crucial issue in such cases. A user whose account has been restricted or removed needs to know the specific rule they violated in order to challenge the decision. If such justification is missing, there is room for speculation about whether it was an automated intervention, a system error, or a deliberate decision by the platform. The case of Thomas Paukner thus raises broader questions about the limits of content moderation on social networks, the responsibility of large technology platforms, and the protection of freedom of expression in the digital space. For now, however, there is no statement from Meta that would clearly explain the circumstances surrounding the removal of the account.
