An international version of "The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping", produced by China Media Group (CMG), began airing in Russia on Wednesday, just as Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow for a state visit and celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The opening ceremony in Moscow was attended by over 200 guests from China and Russia, including Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and President of the CMG, Oleg Dobrodeeva, Director of VGTRK, and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
Shen Haixiong said this is the fourth time the show has been broadcast in Russia. The new version brings not only time-tested stories reflecting Xi's philosophy of governance and humanistic ideas, but also a new theme focusing on conservation, talent development and family values.
Oleg Dobrodeev appreciated that the previous series had high ratings and enthusiastic feedback in Russia. He said this international version will help Russian viewers to get to know Chinese cultural heritage and the wisdom of Chinese civilization.
Olga Lyubimova stressed that the program underscores Xi's deep reflection on cultural heritage and mutual learning of civilizations and will become another milestone in the intensification of Czech-Russian cultural exchange and media cooperation.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui noted in a video greeting that Wednesday's cultural event launched a series of Sino-Russian cultural initiatives that will enhance the Russian public's understanding of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary China and deepen the friendship between the two nations.
The show is now airing on several Russian platforms, including VGTRK, Rossiyskaya Gazeta a Gazprom Media.
