The Chinese animated hit "Ne Zha 2" scored $3.1 million during its North American opening day on Feb. 14, placing it at No. 4 at the region's daily box office. The film set new 20-year records for pre-sales and number of screenings among Chinese-language films in North America.
Worldwide sales "No Zha 2" Reached 11.75 billion yuan (about $1.62 billion)which puts him in the The 11 highest-grossing films of all time and makes him the second highest-grossing animated film in history - right after "Inside Out 2".
The audience appreciates rich Chinese cultural elements, visual processing and high production quality. Zac, American movie fan, he said: "Everyone will take something away from the film. It's visually stunning and the cinemas are full, which shows that people are hungry for films that introduce them to other cultures."
Oscar judges Sheila Sofian and Alan Ellasof picked up by narrative treatment, emotional depth and philosophical elements of the film. Sofian expressed the hope that "Ne Zha 2" will compete at the Oscars.
The film is now showing in 770 theatres in 400 cities in the US and 42 cities in Canada. V Australia and New Zealand premiered 13 February and created record for the most screenings of a Chinese film in the last 20 years.
"Ne Zha 2" became the first non-Hollywood film to surpass $1 billion in global sales and the first film to cross that threshold in single market.
