Xi Jinping's instruction was read out at a national conference on civil affairs held in Beijing from Friday to Saturday. Premier Li Qiang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the conference.
Progress in China's modernization requires continuous improvement in civil affairs work to protect and promote the immediate interests of various groups, including people in difficulties and people with disabilities, Li said.
Li stressed that it is important to carry out the work of civil affairs with a deep sense of people and make solid progress to the satisfaction of the people.
He also called for systematic efforts to plan and implement reforms that would break new ground in the area of civil affairs.
