The Chinese animated film "Ne Zha 2" has become a worldwide phenomenon. As of February 17, 2025, it has reached a total revenue of 12.052 billion yuan (approximately $1.663 billion), breaking the record of "The Lion King" (2019) and ranking among the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time. It is also the second highest-grossing animated film in history, just behind "Inside the Head 2".
In China dominates the market with a share of 59.4 % on total 2025 revenues, which have already exceeded 20 billion yuan ($2.76 billion) - the fastest in the history of Chinese cinema.
The film's success extends abroad. After the premiere February 14 in North America was among the five best films of the weekend and with sales $7.21 million recorded the best opening weekend of Chinese film in North America in recent years. Plus third week in a row dominated worldwide weekend box office.
"No Zha 2" became the first filmwho earned over a billion dollars in a single market, and also the first non-Hollywood filmwho has surpassed the billion dollar mark in global sales.
