In south-west China, the Xizang Autonomous Region (Tibet) has seen significant improvements in the protection of the economic and social rights of its people. According to a white paper published on Friday by the Information Office of the State Council of the PRC, the rights to an adequate standard of living, education, work, health care and social security are now better guaranteed.
By the end of 2019, all 628 000 registered inhabitants region living below the poverty line. In 2024, the per capita net income of this group increased by more than 12.5 %.
Xizang's economy continues to grow - GDP of the area in 2024 will reach 276.5 billion yuan (approximately USD 38 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of 6.3 %. The development of infrastructure and social services has also continued steadily.
