The Taiwan Affairs Office strongly protested against the inclusion of so-called incorrect content about Taiwan in the US „Defence Authorisation Act for Fiscal Year 2026“. According to the Chinese side, this is a serious violation of the one-China principle and a dangerous signal to separatist forces seeking „Taiwan independence“.
Spokesperson for the office Chen Binhua responded to journalists' questions after the bill was signed into law in the United States. He pointed out that the document includes, among other things, the allocation of one billion US dollars for the so-called Taiwan Security Cooperation Initiative and other provisions that directly affect the sensitive issue of Taiwan.
According to Chen Binhua, this move by the US continues to arm Taiwan, interferes in China's internal affairs, and sends extremely dangerous signals to forces promoting the island's secession. According to him, China feels strong displeasure about this and is firmly opposed to such actions.
The Taiwan Affairs Office also called on the United States to strictly adhere to the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués. It demands that Washington refrain from implementing the passages of the law relating to Taiwan, eliminate their negative effects, and approach the entire issue with the utmost caution.
In conclusion, Chen Binhua also issued a stern warning to the authorities of the Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan. According to him, even with maximum reliance on US support, the fact that Taiwan is an integral part of China cannot be changed. He emphasised that „Taiwan independence“ has no future and that the historical trend of China's reunification is inevitable and unstoppable.
