US President Donald Trump said in an interview with The Atlantic magazine that he could side with Ukraine in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Asked if Russian President Vladimir Putin could do anything to get Trump to support Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he replied: "Not necessarily on Zelensky's side, but on Ukraine's side, yes. But not necessarily on Zelensky's side." Trump admitted that his relationship with Zelensky is complicated, and mentioned their Oval Office dispute on February 28.
At the same time, however, Trump warned that Ukraine could be "destroyed very soon". "I think I'm saving the country. I think the country will be destroyed very soon. It's a big war machine. I believe I am doing a great service to Ukraine." he said. Asked whether the United States could provide even more weapons to Ukraine, he replied that the support does not have to be military. "They don't have to be guns with bullets. It can be weapons in the form of sanctions, weapons in the form of banking measures. There are many other weapons," He added.
