U.S. authorities have halted all shipments of U.S. weapons to Ukraine, including missiles and spare parts, the The Economist citing Ukrainian officials.
According to the news site, Ukrainian officials are linking Washington's actions to "the Trump administration's efforts to force political concessions from Ukraine, as it did in early March when it briefly halted arms shipments and intelligence cooperation after the infamous TV spat" between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.
The US denies any pressure on Ukraine and the complete cessation of arms deliveries. According to the Pentagon's chief spokesman Sean Parnell deliveries are continuing, although he did not provide details.
The Pentagon said the suspension is intended to preserve "U.S. readiness and defense priorities".
Earlier, The New York Times reported that the US would suspend deliveries of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, GMLRS high-precision missiles, Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and a range of other munitions. Against this backdrop, the Ukrainian State Department has already summoned the US chargé d'affaires in Ukraine, John Ginkel, to discuss the situation with the suspended supplies.
