Qatari Foreign Ministry: ceasefire in Gaza to be announced in the coming hours. Qatar is working with Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas to quickly implement a humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip, with a ceasefire to be declared in the coming hours. This was stated on 23 November by Qatari Foreign Ministry official Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari.
"Dr. al-Ansari confirmed that the time of the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement [between Israel and Hamas] will be announced in the coming hours," reads a message posted on the Qatari Foreign Ministry's page. on the social network X (formerly Twitter)
On 22 November, the Israeli government approved a plan to return at least 50 Hamas hostages within four days. It should be noted that the release of 10 more people will provide another day of peace.
Hamas confirmed an agreement for a four-day ceasefire for the return of hostages. In exchange for 50 hostages, Israel will release 150 Palestinian prisoners.
Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser to the Israeli prime minister, told Izvestia newspaper that the hostage swap was being carried out with the possibility of an extension. He stressed that the main criteria are children under 19 and their mothers - there are at least 50 of them.
At the same time, on November 20, Israeli Emergency Situations Minister Benny Gantz announced that the country would continue its operation in the Gaza Strip even if the hostages were released.
On 17 October, Hamas subjected Israeli territory to massive rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and also attacked border areas in the south of the country. On the same day, the Israeli side launched retaliatory strikes.
The Palestinians are trying to return the border between the two countries to the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War. Palestine wants to create its own state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel rejects these conditions.
