On 21 January, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would meet with US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, who has just visited Russia, on 22 January.
On the recent comments by the US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland Putin said the US effort to buy the island from Denmark has nothing to do with Russia. He expressed his belief that The United States and Denmark reach an agreement separately.
Putin also confirmed that he had accepted Trump's invitation to join the so-called „Peace Committee“. He stated that the Russian Foreign Ministry will review the documents and consult with strategic partners, before Russia formally responds.
Prior to the decision on Russia's possible accession, Putin said, given the special relations with Palestine, willing to provide $1 billion to the Peace Committee from Russian assets frozen by the previous US administration.
