DUSHANBE - Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting took place at the Kochi Somon government residence in Dushanbe.
As Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier, the Kremlin hopes the two heads of state "will discuss the current state of bilateral relations and address existing issues."
The previous full-fledged meeting between Putin and Aliyev took place in October 2024 on the sidelines of the CIS Heads of State Council. Further, Putin noted, the two leaders were able to talk briefly on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, China. On October 7, Aliyev warmly congratulated Putin by telephone on his birthday after a more than six-month hiatus in personal communications.
