In Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, on 14 March, an international dialogue entitled "China in Spring: Sharing Opportunities with the World", hosted by China Media Group (CMG), Colombian officials took the opportunity to highlight the benefits of China's quality development for the world, especially for developing countries.
In a video message, CMG President Shen Haixiong stressed that China's development is deeply interconnected with global developments and that no country can face the current challenges alone. He said the world should move towards cooperation and mutual benefit instead of isolation.
Chinese Ambassador to Colombia Zhu Jingyang recalled that the year 2025 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia, as well as the 10th anniversary of the launch of China's forum with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States. He stressed the need to strengthen cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit.
Colombia's acting Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Cielo Rusinque said China has long been Colombia's second largest trading partner and a major source of foreign direct investment from Asia. Colombia is interested in developing cooperation in infrastructure, energy transformation, telecommunications and IT, she said.
Guillermo Puyana, President of the Colombia-China Friendship Association, praised China's approach to peaceful development, which he said was an inspiration not only for Colombia but for the entire Latin American region.
Carlos Ronderos, President of the Colombia-China Chamber of Commerce and Investment, highlighted the achievements of the Chinese technology sector, including the artificial intelligence start-up DeepSeek and the animated film "Ne Zha 2". He said China brings valuable stability to a world of uncertainty.
