During a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Chinese Premier Li Qiang stressed China's readiness to deepen cooperation with Brazil in the fields of digital economy, green economy, science and technology innovation and aerospace. He conveyed President Lula's greetings from President Xi Jinping and said China-Brazil relations are at an all-time high, with both sides striving to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Li Qiang recalled the progress made since Lula's visit to China in 2024 and expressed support for expanding cooperation in trade, finance, infrastructure and high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He also called for strengthening people-to-people exchanges and joint efforts to successfully host the China-Brazil Year of Culture in 2026, especially in the fields of education, youth and health.
As strong advocates of multilateralism and free trade, China and Brazil will continue to coordinate within the UN, BRICS and G20 to promote a multipolar world and inclusive globalisation. Li Qiang also expressed Brazil's support for the COP30 climate conference to be held in the city of Belém later this year.
In return, President Lula reaffirmed Brazil's commitment to deepening relations with China and expanding cooperation in key areas such as the economy, science and climate change. He welcomed China's participation in COP30 and praised the successful organisation of the China-CELAC Forum. The two sides also witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements in the fields of finance, artificial intelligence, development strategies and space industry.
