China is a good friend and reliable partner of Latin American and Caribbean countries regardless of how the international situation develops, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on 5 January.

„China applies the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and respects the choice of the peoples of Latin America.“ Lin Jian said at a regular press conference.

He emphasised that China engages in exchanges and cooperation with Latin American countries on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual benefit. „China has never sought to create spheres of influence or targeted any third party.“ he said.

According to Lin Jian, Latin American countries have every right to decide independently on their path to development and choice of international partnerships. „China stands ready to stand in solidarity with Latin American countries in the face of global uncertainties and to work together through mutually beneficial cooperation to pursue prosperity and well-being for the people of both sides.“ He added.
